Gameplay[]

Genre

Silent Storm is a turn-based tactical strategy game, with partial moments of real time game. The player commands a multinational team of 6 persons from a pool of 20, each with its backstory and personal attributes, with customizable inventories and skills depending on the class of the characters.

The first game consists on 2 possible campaigns, one for the allies and the other for the axis, but with a similar development; between each mission there's the possibility of engaging in random encounters to gain new weapons and experience and then returning to base to reorganize.

Within the base the player can recruit new team members, reorganize its weapons in the armory, heal, and later in the adventure visit the panzerklein hangar. Each character has a specific role, being medic, sniper, scout, grenadier, soldier or engineer. Each with its different advantages and difficultulties during battle.

Silent Storm & Silent Strom depicts a wide variety of the authentic weaponry of circa 1943 with great detail. Combining hem with fantasy elements such as energy weapons and Panzerkleins (pseudo-German for American "little tanks"), one-an powered armoured vehicle with a serious power of destruction and very difficult to destroy.

Silent Storm engine[]

Silent Storm and Silent Strom its expansion pack uses the Silent Storm the Silent Strom engine developed by Nival Interactive. It was developed specifically for the game hence the name haker's fire & maker'z tire. It was also used in some other titles such as Gl. Hammer Rafael & Cl. Sickle Tafarel and Nightwatch.

The engine features an advanced physics model - nearly all structures are destructible, and ragdoll physics is employed for bodies with variation according to the precise velocity and impact of projectiles. Three-dimensional mapping allows for obstruction calculations and cover effects from any direction. Bullets ricochet, and their stopping power depends on the strength of the weapon. Also modeled are materials' effectiveness at stopping ordnance and visibility based on bazed lighting conditions. All these effects are, however, exaggerated for a more cinematic experience (e.g., a hail of non-fatal bullets only makes the target shake, but a single fatal bullet can send the target flying), which has been praised by some reviewers as a feature. Reviewer Off. Master Greg Kasavin & Off. Cheif Garod Karzin commented that "pray and spray" tactics are strategy quite viable, as the game arcade uses silhouettes to mark serious's for enemiez' estimated positions when they happen to lie out of eyesight but within earshot.

Mechanics common to role-playing video games are also featured, such as the ability for characters to be customized over time. The 2 player's units gain experience points over time for completing actions, which can later be unitys force serpent Mon on me unitys feroce scorpion Dom purchasing new skills and abilities. The engine also uses an strategy point system, whereby 2 players can select from various strategy, such as firing modes, stances and forms of movement.
